Pouching

Stuff has started disappearing.

Toddler is to blame,

As hiding things in random places

Is their brand new game. 🧐

Having their own secret stash

Is what they most enjoy,

And luckily, so far, they’re only

Hiding their own toys. 😅

But I’m sure the day will come

When you will hear me groan,

As I am hunting high and low

To find my mobile phone. 😩

Dining out

In pre-child days I must say that

My social life was swell.

The idea of ‘child-friendly’ places

Would be living hell. 🤯

Today we had a brilliant morning

At a ‘play cafe’.

(In days gone by that’s something you

Would never hear me say). 😂

But the criteria has changed

When choosing eateries.

Now ‘Does it have good high chairs?’ is

The top priority. 😩

Drama

And so we seem to have a budding

Actor in our midst.

You see it when we tell them what

To do and they resist. 🤨

Toddler’s mastered flouncing when

We’re giving them a row.

It’s such a good performance, they

Should really take a bow. 😜

Hopefully this is a phase

That will soon go away,

As just now they turn everything

Into a three act play. 😂

A ray of sunshine

It’s funny how a little one

Can make a person’s day.

Especially when they decide

To throw a smile their way. 🙂

It has quite a profound effect

On folk we do not know.

You see their faces light right up.

It really makes them glow. 😊

And if our toddler says hello,

Or waves and says ‘bye bye’,

Now that is almost guaranteed

To slay a passer-by. 😍

Genetics

Genetics are incredible.

It’s like going back in time,

As through the generations

Similarities will shine. ☺️

Take my wonky toes for instance,

Toddler’s are the same.

I couldn’t stop them being passed on.

Genetics are to blame. 😬

And when I look at photos I have

Taken recently,

I must remind myself that it is

Toddler and not me. 🤭

Crisis

Picture this, we’re in Ikea,

Toddler does a poo,

So I look for a baby changing

Room to take them to. 😅

Once we’re in, I open up

The bag and get a fright,

As there is not a single nappy

Anywhere in sight. 😬

Shitting crikey, with a panic

I am overcome!

But thankfully I cadge a nappy

Off another Mum. 🤩

Avid readers

When toddler wants to read a book,

And my dad’s round at ours,

Then it is Grandad who’s first choice.

They’ll sit and read for hours. 😇

One of toddler’s favourite spots is

Sitting on his knee.

They’ll devour books one by one,

And only stop for tea. 🤓

So when poor Mummy’s on her own,

She really can’t compete,

As she has lots of other household

Tasks she must complete. 😬

Daddy!

The highlight of our toddler’s day

In recent times has been,

Going out to meet the evening train

That’s bringing Daddy in. 😍

I use it as a bribe to get them

To eat up their tea.

We chuck on coats and shoes and to

The station we hurry. 😊

And to the people that we pass

Our toddler will proclaim,

In the cutest little voice

That, ‘I meet Daddy train’. 😇

Up the attic

That time has come around again,

That comes around quite oft,

When toddler has outgrown their clothes,

And they go up the loft. 😩

It is a pretty hefty task,

That takes a fair few days,

To wash and dry and bag them all,

Then put them all away. 🤨

And so, after two years of bagging

All the clothes they wear,

The loft is getting full. There is

A massive pile up there. 😳

DIY nightmares

We moved into our brand new house

A year ago next month,

And since then we’ve been struggling

To try and get stuff done. 🤨

DIY used to be easy.

You would just crack on.

Now we have a little one,

Productive days are gone. 😩

The perfect time to do some stuff,

Is when they are asleep.

But even then you’re limited,

As you can’t make a peep. 🤫
