As if she gives in now, she will be

So Mummy has to stick it out.

Her heels in, she must dig,

As if she pulls this off, she knows

The payoff will be big. 🤑

Yesterday our toddler spent

A day with the men folk.

Daddy, Grandad and their uncle,

All their bestest blokes. ☺️

Rules? They tossed them out the window!

Didn’t have a care.

They ate a pile of junk for lunch,

And threw toys everywhere. 😈

And where was Mummy, where was Granny?

At a spa, no less.

But never fear, they still came home

And cleaned up all the mess. 😇

It seems that I have maybe made

A rod for my own back,

And it’ll take at least a week

To get us back on track. 😬

Toddler’s used to going to sleep

With Mummy in the room.

I thought it made it easier, but

It just sealed my doom. 😩

So this week should be zero fun.

This habit, we must break.

But through the pain, we’ll keep in mind

It is for our own sake. 🤨

I used to have a spare half hour

Before I went to bed,

But now I spend it publishing

My wee blog posts instead. 🤔

Writing them is loads of fun and

I am loving it.

Today I had an interview.

I think I was prepared,

As when you have a child, your time

To study is impaired. 😩

I’m trying to quell ‘the fear’,

As I have worked towards this job now

For the last three years. 🤓

Today we made the big mistake

Of taking toddler to

A famous high street store, where their dreams

Really can come true. 😉

I am not exaggerating,

They were mesmerised.

That’s no accident, it is

The way it’s merchandised. 🤨

Toddler wanted everything.

We settled on one toy.

It’s like they’re selling crack for kids!

Now that store, we’ll avoid. 😝

As if the joy of having children

Was not quite enough,

On top of that, I get to do

A tonne of cool fun stuff. 😁

Today we all went to the zoo.

What a brilliant day!

Not sure who had the most fun,

(Likely me I’d say). 😬

Tomorrow we’re going to the park,

And I cannot dispute,

I’m looking forward to it and

I’ll race them to the chute. 😜

We have reached a brilliant stage,

Where every single day,

Toddler is developing

In oh so many ways. 🤓

That does have double edge,

As I miss out on stuff.

They’re coming on so quickly that

Four days is not enough. 😩

But for the other three they have

A wee surprise in store.

It’s what I’m looking forward to

When I get in the door. 🤗

Now that toddler’s nearly two,

Their personality

Is fully formed and boy do they

Remind me of, well, me.😱

Each day I see myself in them,

It’s really bloody weird.

I’m passing on my habits to them,

Good or bad I fear. 😬

This has shown me loads of things

I never knew I did.

It blows your mind to see yourself

Reflected in your kids. 🤯

Our little one is on the mend

And boy are we relieved.

Kids bounce back so quickly, it can

Scarcely be believed. 😮

You should have seen them yesterday,

They were a poor wee mite.

Today they’re back to causing havoc

It’s a welcome sight. ☺️

Times like this, they do make you

Appreciate each day,

And so for the next week at least

They will get their own way. 😍
