Some task used to be so simple.

They were such a breeze.

We just waltzed around completing

Things get difficult.

They have a special way of bringing

Ventures to a halt. 😬

Saturday we looked at cars,

A fun day out you’d say.

I spent the whole time stopping toddler

From running away. 🤨

So toddler has a cracking bruise

On the bone of their cheek.

Perfect timing, as their birthday

Party is next week. 😫

They’re getting much more confident,

So they have much less fear.

They leaned out from their climbing frame,

And then they disappeared. 🤭

So hopefully by the weekend

It won’t be such a mess,

Or they will have a dark blue bruise

To match their dark blue dress. 😬

From today there will be no

Boy racer car for me.

We’ve given in. We’ve joined the crowd.

We’ve bought an SUV. 😲

I loved my set of wheels so much,

I had dug in my heels.

But it was just inevitable,

I had to get real. 😝

So now we are full members of

The club of Mum and Dad.

(And, I must admit, that it is

Really not that bad). 🤫

Right now I have so much to do,

I sense a rising panic.

I feel a little bit unhinged.

It’s making me quite manic. 🤪

I’ve got so many things going on,

I’m losing it a smidge.

Today I went to put the peanut

Butter in the fridge. 😳

Diploma, housework, birthday parties,

Next week toddler’s two.

Thankfully I have no job

That I have to go to. 😌

Today was about networking,

I went from coast to coast.

My diary was a riot, I ran

From pillar to post. 😛

I met some cracking people though.

‘Twas a productive day,

And I got some really useful

Learns to take away. 🤓

I could have stayed out for a wine,

But I chose instead,

To leave and get the early train

And put toddler to bed. ☺️

Trying to fit in studying

Alongside being a mum,

Is challenging, to say the least.

I can’t ace either one. 😩

Toddler is not getting enough

Attention from me,

And I can’t read a book without

Getting called away. 🤪

So let’s hope I pass my exam

When I get to the end,

And, far more importantly, that

Toddler’s still my friend. 😬

Our toddler will be two next week.

No. That must be a lie.

The quickest year I’ve ever seen.

Oh boy, has it flown by. 😩

I’m looking at the photographs

We took this time last year.

They all feel just like yesterday,

I blinked and now we’re here. 😑

But then I think of all the cracking

Memories we’ve made,

And even though this year’s been quick,

Those memories won’t fade. 😍

We’re taking toddler camping soon,

Today was a trial run.

We visited pals who are camping,

It was loads of fun. 😃

Toddler had the best day ever,

Out in the fresh air.

Our pals had picked a cracking campsite.

It was stunning there. 😍

So hopefully we can repeat

The success of today,

When next week we take toddler on

A camping holiday. 😬

If there’s one thing that our toddler

Really loves to do,

It’s look at videos they’re in,

Or a selfie or two. 😙

If mummy would allow it, they would

Watch themselves all day.

It’s like a wee addiction, they

Repeatedly press play. 🤩

“It wasn’t like that in our day”,

I’ve heard myself proclaim.

(But, if we were young today,

Then we would be the same). 😳

Sentences have started forming.

Phrases are now clear.

Those flood gates they have opened and

We’re straight into 5th gear. 😊

Toddler’s having little trouble

Getting those words out,

And they are mostly using them

To boss us all about. 😂

And now I cannot wait for all the

Chats we have to come.

And for the first time that they say

To me ‘I love you Mum’. 😍
