This week Mummy’s introduced

The rule of just one chance,

And she will be enforcing it in

In every circumstance. 😬

Until now there’s been no need

To be a hardliner.

As all the altercations have been

Really pretty minor. 😇

Now that things are escalating,

Mum won’t mess about.

She won’t be taking any prisoners,

One strike and you’re out! 🤨

One book before bedtime’s how

Our routine used to be.

It takes a wee bit longer now,

One book’s turned into three. 🙄

And toddler will not rest until

They’ve had the full amount.

They know if they’ve been short-changed, as

To three they can now count. 🤓

But who is benefiting from

The knowledge I impart?

(I have a feeling it is me.

I know each book by heart). 🤣

Why do kids love mobile phones

So much it makes it seem

Like when you take it out your child’s

Caught in a tractor beam? 😵

They can hear a keyboard tapping

From a mile away.

It’s probably the only noise that

Makes them stop their play. 🤫

It has gotten so bad that we’re

Now deciding whether

We should take the drastic step

And ban phones altogether. 😱

Toddler used to eat a big

Variety of food.

It really was no problem, they ate

Everything they should. 😇

Not so for the last few weeks.

Those tables, they have turned.

My lovingly prepared meals are

Immediately spurned. 😲

I’d like to say I’m coping, and I

Take it on the chin,

But it is gutting every night to

Throw it in the bin. 😩

Tiny little bits of toys

Are my new nightmare.

Bloody hell, they LITERALLY

Could be anywhere! 🙄

Every single night you’ll find me

Scrabbling round the floor.

Looking under furniture and

Behind every door. 🤨

Some nights it takes fecking ages,

And you’ll hear me curse.

But explaining why the toy won’t work

Is infinitely worse! 😆

So we have entered a new phase,

‘The Battle of the Wills’,

And I have got a feeling I’ll be

Fighting it uphill. 😩

Toddler’s got their game face on,

So I must practice mine.

I cannot give a single inch,

Once I have drawn the line. 🤨

My patience will be tested and

My nerves will be the same,

But I’ll keep my eye on the prize.

I’m playing the long game. 😏

What a lovely time we’re having

Playing in the sun.

What is it about it that makes

Everything more fun? 😎

Toddler’s mostly playing outside,

Exactly as they should.

And everyone you meet is in a

Bloody brilliant mood. 😃

I realise, as I’m writing this,

I could be tempting fate.

But while it lasts, this sunny weather,

I’ll appreciate. ☺️

Frozen is like crack for kids.

Our wee one is transfixed.

If we need to keep them still,

Then it will do the trick. 😏

I’d love to say I put it on

For toddler’s benefit,

But sometimes it is just for me,

I have to admit. 😬

Today I had a big long walk,

Like in the olden days.

I then got on a bus to town

And caught myself some rays. 😎

I met a friend for dinner

And we had a cheeky wine.

We had a good old blether, and I

Got the train at nine. ☺️

To have a day like this sometimes

Is good for Mummy’s soul.

And it reminds me who I am,

So I’m not pigeonholed. 😉
